Well I’m on the road again as part of Evermore’s global mission to provide positive health and wellbeing choices for older people. I woke up in sunny Cheshire and less than 10-hours later, I’m settled into a room in a funky hotel in Hell’s Kitchen, New York.
I’ve been a solo international Road Warrior for over 25-years, but it’s getting tougher to leave Hector, my hound and life companion. I know he’ll be fine and I’m going to be really busy so will be distracted but our bond is really strong. He understands all my moods and responds accordingly. He may not be able to fill the void left by the Doc, but he certainly keeps me focused on my purpose.
So, why am I here in 90-degree heat with humidity to match? Well, I’ll be fulfilling some long overdue bucket list items from my Art History days with a visit to the Frick Collection over the weekend. Plus, I’ll enjoy real conviviality with my great friend and collaborator Tammy…probably while eating vegan food! And then a full on week to spread the word about Evermore’s portfolio of Evermore@Home community services, household living model and visioning on integrated health with our NHS colleagues.
Our mission is to share and to learn from likeminded individuals across the globe. That’s why we established our network via www.evermoreglobal.org. This is how I believe we will all grow and develop.
I’ll immerse myself in the vibrancy and culture of New York this weekend, then I’m ready to take the week by storm and demonstrate how Evermore can deliver its agenda of disruptive innovation. Good job I’m staying in such a funky, energetic spot…as my hotel describes itself:
“An energetic social hub filled with urban adventure and daredevil design, Hudson takes convention and turns it on its head. Born from the innovative vision of design impresario Philippe Starck, Hudson, a New York boutique hotel, is stylish, democratic, young at heart and utterly cool.”
Could be describing Evermore!
