Evermore Founder Sara McKee and Evermore Global Chair Dr. Bill Thomas ponder the magic created through knowing your why.

The question is, what is the most important question? In business and in life, people spend a lot of their time and energy trying to find answers to:

  • How?
  • Where?
  • When?
  • Who?

But the question that matters most is Why?

For Sara the answer to “Why?” is….

I’ve always believed we’re here for a reason, to make an impact and have a purpose for each day. Its the love of people that drives me. I get the opportunity to spend time with amazing people every day and, since Dr McKee parted, it’s listening to their stories and devising new ways of living from their experiences that provides the meaning to my life.

And it’s this ‘why’ or purpose that makes others want to join in.

A great idea, a novel way of delivery, an opportunity to break into a new market and steal the advantage on the competition can be really exciting. But its why we do what we do that’s most compelling.

Frankly, anyone can make loads of money. The magic is in creating a mission with social purpose that has a positive impact on lots of people’s lives.

We work in a world where we’re all time poor, stressed and under pressure to deliver every day. So, it’s refreshing to start a company where we can step back, look, listen and spend time on creating new products, services and places that help people to live their life, their way. We have the autonomy to create, the desire to master our art and the overwhelming feeling of purpose.  That’s why we don’t have a team, we have a TRIBE.

For Bill the answer to “Why?” is….

We know that the world is a broken place. There is an abundance of loneliness, helplessness and boredom and these plagues are experienced with special virulence by elders. There could be a new world, a better world— one that yields greater strength, purpose and belonging in abundance for people of all ages.  It is the gap between the way things are and the way they ought to be that matters most.  We will never be able to create a perfect world into being but we can definitely do our part to make it a better world. It is the work of repairing the world that matters most.

So…

If you have an idea that can create greater strength, purpose and belonging— shout it from the rooftops. Show WHY your idea needs to take root and grow and then watch as a TRIBE gathers around you. This tribe will very quickly and energetically begin to explain to you that you are wrong about how, when and where your vision will be brought into being— this is the greatest gift they can give.

We’re born with no inhibitions.  We are at our most creative as children. As we grow, often that creativity is knocked out of us because we focus on achieving results rather than living well and flourishing. Our mission is to recapture the boundless imagination of childhood, where everything is possible. We don’t know what the next thing will be, but we absolutely know WHY together we can create magic.
