Sara McKee, Evermore Founder and Director of Market Innovation, responds to the Spring Budget (8 March) and the social care funding announcement by chancellor Philip Hammond.

“Philip Hammond announcing an extra £2 billion for social care is akin to putting a plaster on a broken leg.

“The system won’t be fixed by propping it up to limp along for a few more years. We need the social care sector to embrace new models of service delivery and a complete overhaul.

“We’re starting to see change being delivered in Manchester thanks to an openness to innovation. The Government would be better placed to champion those innovators to drive real change.”
