How a new type of family living could prevent loneliness at Christmas

Age UK research out today suggests around 450,000 older people will spend Christmas alone, with the risk higher among over 80s.

It’s a staggering statistic that highlights the growing problem of loneliness among people in later life.

The loss of friends, family living abroad, and limited social interaction means many older people can go days without speaking to someone, with only the radio for company.

Stories like these harden our resolve to provide a choice for people living alone, somewhere they can live with like-minded people in an environment that nourishes the body and the soul.

Our plan is to build Evermore villages across the country so older people can enjoy a new type of family living, where there is always someone to talk to and there is no reason to spend Christmas alone.
